Once Upon a Time

April 07, 2011

I want to begin my first post by thanking those who gave me the courage and strength to embark on this remarkable journey of self-discovery, and for inviting me to share my experiences with them.

For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the way a well-written story could awaken my senses and transport me to far off places; captivated by tales of foreign lands with snake charmers, gypsies and enchanting landscapes. I took solace in knowing that outside suburbia was a world filled with wondrous places.

I would watch movies like Out of Africa and fantasize about my future. Perhaps it was my youthful innocence, or the lure of great cinematography, but I believed in my heart that one day I too would embark on such journeys. That my home would be filled with an eclectic array of items found during my travels; mementos of places seen, experiences had, and love lived. I would reach the end of my life knowing that I had seen the world and experienced all its marvels.

Though I am nowhere near seeing all there is to see, I have seen some extraordinary places and met interesting characters along the way. I have stayed at some of the world’s most luxurious hotels and eaten at the finest restaurants, but still, what captures my heart the most is the human experience. Opening my heart and mind to vibrant cultures and fascinating people reminds me that we are all more alike than we are different. It provides me with a sense of hope.

This is my first blog, so forgive me if I make some mistakes along the way. I created it as my personal vision board, a place to share my life, thoughts, hopes, and immense love for everything travel. I hope you enjoy my little blog. May it allow you, even for a brief moment, to leave the mundane and be transported somewhere special.

Love & Light,
